The Sport
Shooting with muzzle-loading firearms — a living historical sport with international rules.
A muzzle-loading firearm is loaded from the muzzle end of the barrel with black powder and a projectile. It is a discipline of patience and precision: every shot is prepared by hand. The sport follows the rules of MLAIC (the Muzzle Loaders Associations International Committee) and the national federation.
Categories
Long arms
Muskets and rifles — smoothbore and rifled, originals and reproductions.
Short arms
Revolvers and single-shot pistols — percussion and flintlock.
Smoothbore / clay
Smoothbore shooting and moving-target (clay) events.
Ignition
Arms are classified by their ignition system. The club works with every historical system, without restriction.
Originals and reproductions
Both authentic historical arms and modern reproductions are used in competition. Origin (original or reproduction) and character (military or free) are separate classes, to keep competition fair.
